Fairy Tales

I am a part time work from home stay at home Mommy.

I know. It's a mouthful. But that's just the truth.

It works out well most of the time. I work part time from home, but it's flexible so I can work at night, during nap time, on the weekends, etc... which eliminates the need to hire a babysitter.

This allows me to simultaneously stay at home with my kids, save money on babysitting, and still do the work that I love.

Part of my work is also outside of the home, but those times are generally in the evenings and on weekends when Hubby is home with the kids, also eliminating the need for a babysitter.

There is an occasional meeting that I have to attend during the day, but my job is the type that it's acceptable to bring T with me. And T loves it. She has a crush on a particular married man in the office, and she goes crazy whenever she gets to come to the office with me. Not to mention the office's endless supply of lollipops, plus a fish tank and a very large and very ugly snapping turtle.

So yes, it all works out well. And yes, it keeps me very busy. Yes, I have little time to myself. Yes, it's hard to work with children around. Yes, it would be easier if I just hired a babysitter for a few hours a day.

But again. This is what I feel is right for my family. And this is what makes me (and I hope, my children) happy.

Since my job is part time, most weeks are pretty chilled out, and I have time to coupon (yes it's a verb) and blog and supervise my children and all sorts of fun things like that.

But then some weeks are like this week. It's a very, very busy work week which is really what's been preventing me from blogging. It's taken up a lot of my time recently, and it's been a bit of a struggle.

The boys are in school the whole day, so it's mostly just T who suffers the consequences of my busy schedule.

Although, as these pictures will prove, it's actually I who is suffering the consequences. T is having a grand old time.

Observe: What happens when you are busy with work, diligently typing away, and you forget to supervise your 2 year old.

I have found her in this sink twice in the past three days. And that's just this one sink. We have 2 others that are fair game for her as well.

Also not recommended? Taking a work phone call while in the middle of making Challah, thereby leaving a 2 year old unattended with a bag of flour.

When I walked into the room after leaving her for 30 seconds and was greeted by this sight, I couldn't even react, because I was still on the phone. And it was a really important phone call.

I just had to calmly and quietly clean her off while continuing the phone call as if nothing had happened at all.

By the way, in case you didn't know - flour is really not the easiest thing to sweep up. It got stuck in all those cracks.

So, yes. I love my job. And I love my children. And I love my home. And I love being in my home, with my children.

I would say I could do without the mischievousness. But really, who am I kidding here? How boring would it be if no one climbed into sinks around here on a daily basis?

I can't even imagine it, a life devoid of naughtiness and trouble making.

Around these parts, a life like that is pretty much a fairy tale.

But I'm busy living my own fairy tale. It may be covered in flour, and it may be pushing buttons on the other phone extension while I'm on a conference call, and it may unloading every item from my wallet, and it may even be turning my computer off when I'm typing something and haven't yet hit save.

But it's my fairy tale, and I like it like that.

LOL! That's great. My kids are just that mischevious, if not more so. Today they woke up with gremlins for brains. *sigh*.

I want to work at home. I really do. I am a SAHM, but I would like to be a WAHM, I just don't know what I could possibly do from home that would be worthwhile. So, I blog, and pretend that makes me money :)

I hate cleaning up flour. It makes the flour so slippery!

You can never get mad at that cute little face, btw. not possible.

T is just too cute! You certainly have your hands full with her.
You are so lucky to be able to work at home even if it's just part time. I used to have a pretty decent WAH job but my paycheck is about 1/3 of what it used to be...and that's on a good month. Now I'm looking high and low for an overnight position in our rinky dink little town so I won't have to deal with daycare.
